How to help your baby sleep safely and comfortably: tips for safe sleep week

As a parent, you want nothing more than for your baby to sleep safely and peacefully. Sleep is not only important for your child’s well-being but also for their development. From September 22 to 26, 2025, the very first Safe Sleep Week will take place, a perfect opportunity to focus on safe and restful sleep, both at home and in childcare.

Why Safe Sleep and Rituals Are Important

A good night’s sleep starts with a safe environment and a routine your child can rely on. By coordinating well with the educational professionals at the daycare, you help reduce stress and your child adjusts more easily to sleeping in the group.

Rituals can be simple: feeding, cuddling, singing a song, reading a book, or choosing a favorite toy. When these rituals are similar at home and at daycare, your child adapts faster and sleeps better there as well.

The 4 Most Important Tips for Safe Sleep

  • Always place your baby on their back, the safest sleeping position.
  • Use a separate crib or bassinet; avoid co-sleeping.
  • Use a well-fitting baby sleeping bag, not loose blankets.
  • Keep the crib clear of toys and pillows to minimize risks.
