Early childhood education (VE-indication)

What is a VE-indication?

VE stands for "voorschoolse educatie" early childhood education. Some children are given a VE-indication by the child healthcare centre. This might be due to special circumstances at home or due to a language delay. Your child is then offered a special programme at the toddler playgroup, with the supervision your child requires. For example, extra attention is paid to language. Movement and play are also focussed on. Your toddler usually attends four half-day sessions, instead of two. Parents pay a parental contribution for two half days, and no contribution for the other two half days.

How does it work?

For each child with a VE-indication, we visit the home, which makes the transition significantly easier for your toddler. Your child is allowed to show what he or she enjoys playing with. This allows us to become better acquainted with your child and his environment. And we strengthen the bond with you as a parent, which helps your child to trust us. All that knowledge helps us offer your toddler a well-tuned programme. Because we offer tailor-made solutions.

Together with parents

We find it important to work together with you as parents as much as possible.  During the introduction, we explain to you how we work at the toddler playgroup. Please do not hesitate to ask questions. You are more than welcome to play with your toddler during the first 15 minutes of the day. He or she can then see that you know and trust us, you can see what we do, and we can discuss any issues.

We work with themes, such as ‘Me and my family’. During this theme, you are sometimes given a small, fun assignment to do at home. For example: take a few pictures of your home or family. Or your child might bring something from home that he or she values. Children show each other the photographs or objects and we discuss them together.
