Bso-i Binkies

Binkies is an out-of-school care location for children attending a special needs primary school.

The children at Binkies are assigned to a group with fewer children. Much the same as in their primary school environment, they are offered to participate in clear and structured activities. Out-of-school care Binkies is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. In holidays and study days Binkies is opened from 8:30-18:00.

Extra personal attention for every child

Out-of-school care (bso-intensive) Binkies has one appointed group for a maximum of 10 children from ages 4 to 14. Due to its small size and fewer number of children, we are able to provide each child with extra personal attention. There are two staff members working at Binkies on a weekly, consistent basis. Children receive specialist guidance at Binkies: some of our staff members are college educated (hbo) and have completed the "Kids' Skills" training.

Plenty of room to play for children of all ages

The set-up of the group is especially designed to entice children of all ages to play. There are designated, separate areas for playing with dolls, going to the grocery store, building with blocks, creating with arts and crafts and playing dress-up. There is also a special area with computers and a television, as well as a lounge area where children can read a book or listen to music. Even if the weather is bad, children can still have a great time playing in the designated areas or in the gym.

Large outdoor play area

After school, children can play on the playgrounds of the SBO Het Mozaiek. The playground has lots of jungle-gyms. There are also football goals set up and a special sports field for softball, hockey, football and basketball. There is also a special “traffic” area with parking spaces, crossing paths and other traffic markings where children can bicycle in a special designated area, safely avoiding children participating in other activities. Or just run or swing.

Structured activities presented with pictograms

When the children get out of school, they are first able to play freely, indoors or outdoors. Afterwards, staff and children enjoy a snack together and go over their day, with the help of pictograms. Pictograms are cards depicting a picture or symbol. Children are offered to participate in two different activities each day. The activities may sometimes be age-related, but are mostly suited for children of all ages. Children are offered to participate in a variety of activities ranging from cooking lessons and arts and crafts, to theater, drama, dance and music lessons.

Frequently asked questions

When can I register my child for out-of-school-care?

You can register your child for out-of-school school care from the moment your child is 3 years old and your (provisional) choice of school is known. Your choice of school is important because each school is linked to one of out-of-school care facilities. If your choice of school (or your preferred childcare days) changes, please let us know as soon as possible. The date you communicate the change will then become your new registration date.

When will I know if there is a place for my child?

As soon as we have a place for your child, we will let you know. For the after-school centre, we aim to inform you no later than six months before the requested childcare date. If you do not hear anything, this means that we do not (yet) have a place available.

Can I get a tour of the out-of-school care?

Yes, you are more than welcome to come by. During a tour, you will hear more about our childcare and will get a good impression of the indoor and outdoor spaces. Call the out-of-school location directly to make an appointment.
