Binkies

The children at Binkies are assigned to a group with fewer children. Much the same as in their primary school environment, they are offered to participate in clear and structured activities. Out-of-school care Binkies is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. In holidays and study days Binkies is opened from 8:30-18:00.

On Fridays, children from BSO i‑Ziezo are also cared for at our location.

Extra personal attention for every child

Out-of-school care (bso-intensive) Binkies has one core group with a maximum of 13 children aged 4 to 13. 

Because the group is small, there are fewer stimuli for the children and more personal attention for each individual child. Three dedicated childcare professionals are present every day.

Plenty of room to play for children of all ages

The set-up of the group is especially designed to entice children of all ages to play. There are designated, separate areas for playing with dolls, going to the grocery store, building with blocks, creating with arts and crafts and playing dress-up. There is also a special area with computers and a television, as well as a lounge area where children can read a book or listen to music. Even if the weather is bad, children can still have a great time playing in the designated areas or in the gym. 

Large outdoor play area

After school, children can play on the playgrounds of the GBO Het Mozaïek. The playground has lots of jungle-gyms. There are also football goals set up and a special sports field for softball, hockey, football and basketball. There is also a special “traffic” area with parking spaces, crossing paths and other traffic markings where children can bicycle in a special designated area, safely avoiding children participating in other activities. Or just run or swing.

Structured activities presented with pictograms

When the children come from school, they first have some time for free indoor play. After that, we eat together in small groups and talk about the day using pictograms. These are cards with images or symbols that help support the conversation.

At the start of the BSO afternoon, we also use an emotion thermometer. Together with the child, we check how they are feeling after a school day, so we immediately know how the child is doing at that moment.

Every day, we offer two optional activities. Sometimes these are age-specific, but most of the time they are suitable for all ages. The activities range from creative play and cooking to theatre/drama and dance/music. In addition, there is daily time for sports and active play.
