What is For you and your child!?
‘For you and your child!’ are free meetings for parents of children aged between 2 and 5 years old, provided by Bink and developed by Stichting Lezen en Schrijven. Here, a parent learns what he or she can do to stimulate their child’s language skills, for example by practicing with the help of language game and asking questions. The course consists of 16 meetings and is for both Bink parents and non-Bink parents. It is possible to join at any given moment during the year.
Programme
In the course ‘For you and your child!’ parents learn how they can stimulate their child’s language skills in a playful way with the help of theme booklets. Together with their child, they will practice activities related to themes such as Animals, Party and Crafting. The themes match the themes at the toddler playgroup and groups 1 and 2 of primary school. This way, parents learn to support their child in learning:
• A greater vocabulary
• Counting, measuring, space, time
• Motor skills
• Independence, self-confidence
• Working together, playing together
In addition to the regular meetings, Rina Wiggerts, Bink-coordinator of ‘For you and your child’, organises supplementary workshops on themes that matter to parents, for example about playing, reading aloud, nutrition and sleep.
