Toddler Playgroup Parent Ayse Nur on the Toddler Playgroup in Soest

Ayse Nur, mother of three children, now has experience with all three at the toddler playgroup. Her eldest started first, followed by her two daughters. The youngest still attends with great enjoyment. “They are close in age, so they were in the group one after the other. From the very beginning, it felt right, warm, familiar, and safe.”

A Conscious Choice

With grandparents available to babysit, childcare wasn’t a necessity for Ayse Nur. Yet she chose the toddler playgroup very deliberately. Because Turkish was mainly spoken at home, the local health service (GGD) advised enrolling her children in pre-school education. They received a VE certificate, allowing them to attend the toddler playgroup four mornings a week.

“That advice felt right immediately,” says Ayse Nur. “It gave us direction and confirmed what we already valued: that our children would be with peers, play together, and, most importantly, learn Dutch naturally. The toddler playgroup provided exactly what we needed.”

Learning Through Play

What Ayse Nur values most is that children learn at the toddler playgroup without it feeling like learning. “They sing songs, play circle games, practice colors, counting, and crafts. Meanwhile, they develop their language, motor skills, and self-confidence. My children became much more social. Suddenly you hear sentences, songs, new words. It’s so wonderful to see that at home.”

Preparation for School

For Ayse Nur, the toddler playgroup was also a way to prepare her children well for primary school. “They get used to the daily routine, learn to listen to a teacher, and gain confidence in themselves. This makes the transition to group 1 much smoother. You can see that they already understand how a day unfolds, which brings calm, for them and for me.”

More Than Just Childcare

For Ayse Nur, it’s clear: the toddler playgroup is not just ‘childcare,’ but an enrichment. “Your child learns so much more than you might notice at first glance. It’s about language, social development, independence, and simply having fun with other children. You expand your child’s world. I truly recommend it to everyone, give it a chance!”
