Children aged 2 to 4 are welcome to play together at our playgroups a few mornings or afternoons. Like the daycare centre, the playgroup is a good preparation for primary school. Under the supervision of a qualified pedagogical staff, toddlers and preschoolers get every opportunity to enhance their social, emotional and motor development.
Two of our playgroups use the Montessori Method and one is English-speaking. All our playgroups (with the exception of the International Playgroup) provide early childhood education (VVE). The staff of a few playgroups in Hilversum are assisted by parents and / or steady volunteers.
Playing at the playgroup is not only fun for toddlers and preschoolers, they also learn a lot. Games stimulate children’s motor skills and creativity and the presence of other children invites them to play together. Toddlers and preschoolers need regularity and familiarity. We therefore work with a predictable daily routine. This is comforting for children and they know where they stand. The toddlers and preschoolers play in their own common room under the supervision of a permanent pedagogical employee, who knows the children well. In this way we offer these children a safe and familiar environment where they can play and explore.
