• you (both) work
• you study (a study authorised by DUO, i.e. the Education Executive Agency of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science)
• you take a learning path to find a job
• you take part in a compulsory reintegration programme

When do I apply for childcare allowance?

You can apply for childcare allowance right now. You should do this preferably 3 months before your child starts attending the playgroup in order to receive the childcare allowance on your bank account in time.

For how many hours do I request childcare allowance?

You apply for childcare allowance for 26.67 hours per month, i.e. 2 half days a week. The playgroup is open 40 weeks a year, but you pay per month. You will also receive childcare allowance per month.

2 half days a week = 8 hours a week
40 weeks = 320 hours of care a year
320 hours / 12 months = 26.67 hours a month

My child has a VVE indication and attends the playgroup 4 mornings a week. Do I need to apply for subsidy / childcare allowance for more hours?

Children with a VVE indication attend the playgroup 4 half days a week. The municipality fully pays 2 half days, so you only pay a contribution for the remaining 2 half days. You therefore apply for 26.67 hours subsidy a month.

How much do I have to pay for the playgroup?

If you are entitled to childcare allowance from the Tax Administration, the hourly rate in 2024 is € 11.91 gross. You will receive the childcare allowance on your own bank account. The allowance is paid monthly in advance on the 20th of the month. If this is a Saturday, you will receive the allowance on Friday. If it is a Sunday, you will receive the allowance on Monday.

Are you are eligible for childcare allowance, but earn a maximum of € 64,305 a year?

I am earning minimum wage. Is there an additional arrangement?

For parents with a minimum income, the municipality of Hilversum can allocate an additional contribution to childcare costs. Contact the Social Center of the municipality: 14035.
